The Upir’s Mark Blog is Going On Vacation Starting Next Week
by Sasha on December 13, 2011 at 6:42 pmHey everyone!
Dima’s been selling a lot of records on eBay. A lot. We’ve been visiting thrift stores, garage sales, clearance racks, auctions and store closeouts all over the place to gather up some gems. So, we are going on a long vacation while we sell our condo. We already bought a nice cabin in the woods on a short sale. Our new home is beautiful and it’s a few hours away from the Twin Cities. We love it.
Our vacation plans include visiting our daughter in Britain, Sasha’s family in France, and taking a really long road trip across the United States. We might also bum around in Amsterdam for a bit. It should be fun. Needless to say, we’re not going to update the blog very much while we enjoy our big adventure. We might check our comments every once in a while, but that will be the extent of our online presence until we come back. I have no idea when we’ll return, but when we do, I’m sure we’ll have plenty to say.
Our farewell update will be happening on December 20th. Be sure to look for it!
Thank you for visiting us,
Sasha & Dmitri
The Upir’s Mark Blog, Now Updated On Weekdays
by Sasha on November 25, 2011 at 3:56 pmAfter much discussion, Dmitri and I have decided to take the entire weekend off from blogging. So, we’re updating on weekdays only. I hope you don’t mind. :)
The Upir’s Mark Blog is taking Sunday breaks. Why? Because we need a day off every once in a while. Even my Christ disdaining husband can agree on that. :)
Vas Littlecrow at Fallcon and Google+ Hangout
by Sasha on October 12, 2011 at 4:00 pmJust a heads up lovelies,
Vas Littlecrow will be a guest artist at this year’s Fallcon. Vas will be there with slave boy from 10am-4pm. If you are in the Twin Cities (Minnesota) area, stop by and tell them Sasha sent you. If you do, you’ll get some free art.
If you are unable to make it to Fallcon, do not fret! Vas will be doing an open Google+ hangout starting at 11am tomorrow while zie works on zir digital abstract paintings and some new material for the Upir’s Mark blog.
We received this question from anonymous:
“What does upir’s mark mean?”
Upir’s Mark (or more accurately Marka Upyrya) is the name of my band. My late friend Zoya and I started it back in 1988 when we lived in Irkutsk, Siberia. It was a weird cross between folk music, techno, metal and punk. We used to have very shocking stage shows. We played together until 1996, and then went on hiatus. In 2008, the band reformed under the English name as an industrial and metal band with my spouse, our daughter (only when it’s an all ages show,) my stepmom, and I. We mostly play mostly for fun and don’t tour anymore, but we still like to take pride in our theatrics.
As for the meaning of the band name, it’s pretty simple. An “upir” is a Russian type of vampire that is awake during the daytime and is more vicious than other vampires. It is created by a curse rather than by being bitten. A “upir’s mark” would be the bite.
I hope this explains it!
This is why I get furious when they mess with Dmitri’s meds…
by Sasha on July 28, 2011 at 10:51 amDear Doctors,
My husband’s brain chemistry isn’t the problem. His problem is losing his job over completely nonsensical bullshit. He just needed to stay in the hospital to chill out until he’s calm and safe again. Leave his meds alone. Otherwise, this is what I have to put up with:
Fuck you very much,
Sasha
Good Christian Music! It’s Nu Metal, But We Don’t Care.
by Sasha on June 6, 2011 at 5:25 pmI wish I could embed this, because non-embeddable videos make me sad. Someone kindly mentioned this kick-butt video in the comment section of this Christian Rock post. I watched it, listened to the music and I loved it. If anyone out there has more good Christian Rock suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
I dedicate this cartoon post to everyone who made this Christian feel welcomed on /r/ atheism!
