unfortunately not sacked, but given a different location to manage since by the end of her month there it was only me and one employee still putting up with her – I laughed my ass off when I’d heard within a week of being manager at the other location she lost her ENTIRE staff there…
they even asked if I was willing to help out there. I gave a flat and definate “no” to that.

gods, am I in agreement!

I’d overheard that way too many times, back when I was job-hunting, due to my past employment(s) in management – despite my mentioning during said interviews that I wasn’t interested in returning to management, it still ended up being a definate “not in my favour.”

I was completely flabbergasted by the whole situation. I look great, I dance well and it’s a fucking minimum wage + tips jobs. I can’t comprehend why my age would matter. They were in the office, but I heard the entire conversation and recorded part of it on my phone. The one bright side I see here is that I might have cause for an EEOC lawsuit. A couple of the house dancers also heard the exchange and agreed it was bullshit.

Thank the Gods for thin walls and great acoustics. I’ve wondered if overqualified is code for “too old.”
